Staff report
Many churches have turned to the internet to live-stream their worship services since the coronavirus pandemic hit several months ago, but a growing number are also turning to an old reliable medium to get their message across – FM radio frequencies.
Leesburg’s Frontier Church has joined the list of churches offering Sunday drive-in worship services as a way to serve its members while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
The non-denominational multi-cultural church at 1508 Westside Dr., Leesburg began its weekly 10 a.m. drive-in service July 1. A Frontier Kids Virtual Kids lesson also takes place at the same time via the church’s YouTube channel. Kids can watch the live lesson on a smart phone or tablet while their parents enjoy the drive-in service.
The Rev. Steve Yates is the founding pastor of the church.
Another congregation, First Baptist Church of Leesburg, 220 N. 13th St., offers a 9 a.m. drive in worship service Sundays at its main campus, 220 N. 13th St., as well as its south campus, 25900 U.S. Highway 27.
